LL Just today........Josh wanted to talk some more about the magic bullet. He has added that to the list of things to do as soon as he is on his own. Let's see so far on his list are smoke, drink, and buy a magic bullet! He did advise me though, you have to wait until the last 18 minutes of the commercial to get the best price!
What kind of mom am I? I can remember when I was just a little girl about 8 or so, I wanted to grow up and spend all my money on silly string! Thankfully I outgrew it. Let's hope Josh does as well!

Chinese Chicken
I tried the recipe that BM has posted on about the holy trinity of chinese cooking. It was a big hit! I never in a million years would have figured out a recipe like that on my own. I am glad I tried it.You might wanna pop over to her blog, get the recipe and give it a shot. Tell her I sent ya!

I also saw on TRaCeY's blog a list of her pet peeves. It made me think about what my pet peeves are. OM Goodness, I have a few. I think I will try to tame them down a bit before posting them. I don't want to give everyone the impression that I am a big "B" word.

 Hiya!Everytime it has been awhile since I blogged, I feel as though I am in confession. You know, forgive me, for it has been awhile since my last entry...blah blah blah. So thanks to everyone who continues to come by and see if there is anything new here. My apologies to all.
Now that I got that out of the way, here's the scoop. Life got busy. My mom got really really sick and was admitted to ICU. It was touch and go for awhile. But, she is much better now. In fact, I would say she probably feels better than she has felt in years. She has had several on going illnesses that caught up with her. It's past now and she is now trying to regain her strength.

Let's get on to the fun stuff. I have been wanting to blog about infomericials for sometime now.
Josh was home alone one day and got his feel of infomericials. In fact, he was convinced that we needed to buy a magic bullet. He soaked up all the info this product was dishing out. He was so excited about all the neat things we were going to be able to make! Let's see.....hot sauce, nachos, pesto sauce and smoothies! All for the low price of $29.99! I had to burst his bubble on that one!

That's All I've Got! Be Good!  Mom Jeans?I visited BM's blog last night and she had blogged a response to some testy woman about her comments on a recent blog entry. After processing what was said about women and "mom jeans", I started to wonder - What exactly are "mom jeans"? Do I have "mom jeans"? Is that a bad thing? Does that mean I am less cool than women who wear "not mom jeans" ? I look forward to your responses. I gotta know about this thing known as "mom jeans".

LL Life is Good!Okay kids are back in school. The routines are falling back into place AND today I got a postcard in the mail today from Starbucks!
They added 10 dollars credit onto my card! Yeah me! I was starting to use up the credit I had and my trips were becoming less and less. So tomorrow I will stop by and get me some coffee. ( I am doing the happy dance!)

There is not alot going on here so I think I will tell you guys about a movie we rented this past weekend. It is called Benchwarmers.
I got it because it was family friendly and because the Napoleon Dynamite dude is in it. I have to tell you guys. It was kinda funny!
I usually just tolerate some of the movies we get for family night, but not this one. It is very campy and has tons of product placement.
I reccomend you give it a whirl. If you do, let me know what you think. I would love to know.
Okay it's getting late and I am getting sleepy.

LL What is Gluttony?I had an unusual conversation with a lady at the office this week. It started out because I made a pot of coffee in a pot that was about to be used to make coffee for a meeting. I did not know that at the time. I started the pot brewing and went on about my business waiting for it to finish. The next thing I know this lady comes in wanting to know who was making coffee. I confessed. I didn't know it was a problem. She went on to tell me how she needed the pot. I told her to take it and I would make another one in the pot marked decaf. It was fine...no problem. That is when things took a turn for the worse. She did not want to serve my coffee in the meeting. I insisted I really did not mind. She said I should take a cup so I would not need to make another pot. I told her I needed more than one cup. She then proceeded to ask me about how much coffee I thought I would need. She was trying to be accomodating. When I told her I would make another pot because I drink it all day long, she could not believe it. She told me that it was bad for my body to do that. And,anything consumed in excess is gluttony!
 So, not only did I make coffee in a reserved for meetings pot, but I commited one of the seven deadly sins! So, I ask you this...What do you consider gluttony? Is drinking too much coffee really that bad?
I have to tell you guys it has been bothering me all weekend. Gluttony? Come on! You gotta be kidding me.
 Now I feel the need for a good cuppa coffee! I gotta go make a POT and catch up on some blogs!

Shelly What I have been doing.....My boys know that when I was younger I liked the band "Loverboy". I had a huge crush on the lead singer Mike Reno. Josh was telling me that he saw them the other night on some talk show. He even remembered the song they played. " Everybody is busy on the weekend". (he he he)
For those of you who are not fans, it is called Everybody is working for the weekend!
I still like to think about the good ol' days when the band was cool and everybody was young and thin. They are much better in my memory than they are actually now! Time has a way of changing us all. Let's just hope it's for the better!

Things have been sorta busy for me. I started working at my church in as an assistant to the acting youth pastor. That takes the most part of my days. Then and if I have any real estate things working, I do that in the evenings. Then of course theres the never ending job of housework and laundry and toting kids to and fro. It doesn't leave me much time for blogging. Need I say more?

Shelly Catching up!I was just looking over my future blog topics list and decided to catch up on a few. So, here goes..
I started my Christmas shopping in July. I can't pass up a good sale on things I know I will end up buying later for more. Kohls, a local store here which is always having a "one day" sale with the "lowest" prices of the season was having a ...you guessed it... a sale! I found a couple of cute things that will make good stocking stuffers so I stocked up. I also found some adorable little purses for my nieces at a local import store. I am a sucker for a sale.
Next topic: Skincare
I went to the dermatologist about 3 months ago for my rosecea. She prescribed a medicated wash with sulfer and a topical cream. My skin looks better than it has in 10 years! I love it. I don't dare skip a day on using either of them. Gotta love it!
Next topic: Starbucks green tea
I decided to wean myself from drinking so much coffee so I started buying the green tea from Starbucks instead of my usual. What a joke! What was I thinking? Me? Not drink coffee? My green tea fantasy lasted all of 2 days. What can I say? I LOVE coffee!
 Next topic: Movies I watch over and over
This topic is near and dear to my heart. I love the movie "School of Rock". I know it's silly. I don't care. I love it. I love it so much I think I will start quoting lines from it in my blogs from now on! Just Kidding! I am just sticking it to the man! ( gotta watch the movie to appreciate this blurb) Rock on!

LL Is it really......necessary to print coupons in Spanish and English? I like to think of myself as open-minded as the next guy! But, really do we need coupons printed in Spanish and English? Maybe coupons are just printed that way in Texas. We do have a large hispanic population.
I noticed yesterday while buying groceries, that the boxes are printed in both languages as well. Whats up with that? I am not sure I like it. If it is done to be "PC" then what about all the other nationalites represented in the US? Is it insulting to them?What about all the picture directions?
Doesn't that accomodate people who can't read English? What are companies thinking?

New stuff...Okay I have not blogged in awhile and when I decide too-everything is different! I am not sure I am happy with it either. I will be the first to admit I don't like change. But, I was just getting the whole space thing under control. I feel like a lost puppy.

Shelly Caught in the act!I found this picture they other day when I was organizing the pictures for the life books. It reminded me how fast my boy's are growing up! And, as a side note they are in the kitchen. Looks like we have always had a problem with the boys looking for something to eat because they are "starving"! That night they found the chocolate syrup. I remember it well. When I asked them if they were eating the syrup, they replyed noooooo. Good thing we had a camera to capture the moment.
I have noticed.......that more and more bloggers are putting the temperature gauges on their blogs. And, it is HOT
 everywhere! What's up with that?  I think we should all stay inside and eat ice cream! What flavor can I get for you guys?That's All I've Got! Be Good!

Life bookMy husband's mom made him a photo album with pictures of their family. It's a memory book of sort. It has school pictures, some of his artwork, family vacations and pictures of the relatives and stuff. The other night I discovered it when I was looking for Stephen's birth certificate.
While looking through the book, Stephen asked me where his Life Book was. We have his baby book and since he was the first born, it has all the pictures we took up until his first birthday. But, after that all the pictures were thrown into a big box for future processing. Now, 14 years later I need to figure out what to do with the memories captured on film.
 Poor Josh....I barely found time to put his baby pictures in his book. I have them still in THE box. They are just not in any order.( this is bugging him)
Tonight I sat down and organized all the pictures into piles. So now I get to make their Life books.
Has anyone else done this for their kids? It really is a good idea.
 I enjoyed looking at my husbands and I kinda wish I had one with my stuff in it. That's All I've Got! Be Good!
I have another........question for you guys. What is the proper way to respond to comments in my blog? Do I put another comment in the same area and respond? Do I visit the commentee's blog with my response? It seems rude to me too not respond or let people know how much I appreciate the time it took to leave a note about the blog. I am not sure what the blog etiquette way to reply is.
Okay, so maybe I am over thinking the whole process. Please leave me your thoughts. And, thanks in advance!

 I'm Melting.....Wow! There's no wondering if it's summer!
 Today is a make-up melting kinda day. I love summer, I just don't like it when it's so stinking hot I can barely breath. It seems that lately the air has been thick. Almost like you could cut it with a knife. _____________________________________________________________
Well, I did it! I built another blog! It's not what you are thinking though. It's not a private blog where I can go and complain. I built it for my business. I figure I spend so much time blogging that I could use one to get business. Once I have things in order, I will tell you the address. I welcome any suggestions to make it better. I should have it in order by the weekend.

I noticed that some blogging moms are starting to look forward to school starting again. I am no different. My kids fight just for the sake of fighting. It's really weird. They enjoy spending time together, but they also start to get on anothers nerves too. Right now they are watching a music video together and being civil. But, earlier today they were running around throwing a hacky sack at each other. It goes from one extreme to the other.

I stopped by Starbuck's this morning for my fix. They were giving out samples of the new tangerine frappy thing. It's not too bad. I just can't make myself order anything with out caffiene though. Seems like a crime to walk out of Starbuck's without a good caffiene buzz!

 Exercise BallI did a little research about exercise balls and it appears that they can help with lower back pain if they are used for a chair. So, I got one. I am actually sitting on it as I blog. I am not sure if it is really working or not. My back does not seem to be as stiff as it normally does. It may be in my head, but my back is not hurting and that is all I care.
I knew I had to do something about the stiffness. I was starting to stay hunched over for a few steps after sitting until the muscles loosened up. Not a good thing when you are forty. I can only imagine that the problem would get worse, not better with age.
Does anyone else know about them? Do any of you use one for a chair? I would be curious to know. Drop me a line and tell me about it.

Update on the new gym.....
I am starting to feel comfortable there now. I know the equipment that I like and have got a little routine I do everytime I go. My favorite part is the private T. V. on every piece of cardio equipment. I watched Rock Star- Supernova tonight and cycled 16.25 miles! Not too shabby! (Go Shelly Go!)
I enjoy watching whatever I want. I have to admit, I am a remote junkie. I don't watch commercials. I channel surf. Since they have cable, something I don't have at home, it is pure HEAVEN for me.
 I look around to see what everyone else is watching and flip through the channels until my program comes back on. Love it! Love it! Love it!Just as a sidenote- My husband does not like my channeling surfing habit. At home, I don't get to hold the remote too often.
Maybe I should join a support group of some sort. That's All I've Got! Be Good!
I think I need.......a different blog space to accomodate my rantings. I think everybody I know on occasion reads my blog. I don't want to offend anyone. I just would like to have a place to feel free to say the things on my mind without hurting any feelings. I guess there are some things that need to just be private conversations in closed quarters. I guess you could say the blog "keeps me honest".
I would really never create a blog to accomodate my complaining. It was just a thought.......

My Baby Girl........Dutchess is a 65 pound boxer. She also answers to sweet baby, sweet baby girl, momma's baby, Dutch and just baby girl. She and I are the only girls in the family. She has always favored me. Much to the dismay of the rest of the family. I am not sure why she choose me to be her favorite. Maybe because girls need to stick together, maybe because she like the way I baby talk to her, maybe because I am more nuturing than everybody else. For whatever reason, I am the choosen one.
I like being the chosen one. Makes me feel special. The one problem is that she does not like to share me with anyone else. She does not like me to hug or kiss on anyone else. She will "talk" to let me know she is unhappy with me showing anyone else any affection. It's not a bark, it's not a growl either it sound like she is trying to talk. It's kinda funny. We sometimes do things just to she if she will respond.
I took a few pictures of her today. Let me know your thoughts. And, I know, she has a face only a mom could love!

LL Is there anybody........who pushes you out of your comfort zone? For me, it's my husband. If it weren't for him, I would have never finished my degree, got my SCUBA certification, learned how to drive a stick shift or got a license to drive a motorcycle. He believes I can do anything I set my mind too. I don't always feel the same way, but he pushes me to try.
You may recall from past blogs that my husband is our Sunday school teacher. Well, he is under the weather and unable to prepare for the lesson. Because it is too late to get someone to fill in for him, he felt the need to push me out of my comfort zone again.
Tomorrow I will be "teaching" our Sunday school class.I use the word teaching in the loosest form. I am not a teacher. I am not comfortable speaking to groups. One on one conversations with complete strangers are not a problem for me, but groups, that's another story. There is something about being in the front of the group and talking and hearing the words coming out of my mouth that makes me sick. I can't remember the point I was making and I just lose it. If I make it through, it will be by the grace of God.
Oh my goodness.....I hope I live through it. If I don't blog again....you will know why. It's been nice knowing ya!

Just a thoughtThere is a saying that says women turn into their mothers. Do you think it's true? Do you want to turn into your mother? I love my mom, but I do not want to turn into my mom.
My mom's health is not the best. It has caused her numerous problems. I won't go into them all out of respect for her. What I can say is that I am trying to avoid some of them. I have joined a gym and I try to eat healthy. I still have a long way to go to be in "shape". I have to take it one day at a time. Somedays are harder than others. But when it's all said and done, I think we become what we want to become, not what the world says we become.

LL Over ParenthoodMy boys are convinced that we are the most over protective parents compared to all their friends parents. When Josh feels that we are protecting him more than is neccesary he refers to it as "over parenthood". I can recall a past conversation that went something like this.
Josh- Can I go swim at so and so's house?
Me- Are his parents home?
Josh- No, but his brother is there.
Me-No- too many things can happen when you're swimming. You guys need to have an adult supervise you.
Josh- You guys are just over parenthood!

Another conversation Josh and I had today while driving back from the store.
Josh- How old do you have to be to smoke?
Me- 21
Josh- 21! Man what can you do when your 18? Drink?
Me- Nope, you gotta be 21 to drink. You can vote when your 18.
Josh- What about 19 and 20? What can you do good then?
Me- Nothing that I know of.
Josh- Well- there has got to be something fun before your 21. ( He sighs)
Josh- How old do you have to be to drive?
 Me- 16
Josh- Gosh I knew there had to be something! As soon as I turn 21 I am going to smoke cigars!
 ( guess he went from 12 to 21 in his thoughts!)Makes me wonder if my kids are going to go wild when they leave home.
I want to protect them, but not so much they leave home and think they need to catch up on all the things we protected them from.

Nothing Blog WorthyWe joined a gym about a month ago. We thought it would be a great place for the boys to hang out for the summer. They have a waterpark and indoor basketball courts. The workout equipment is good too. I have enjoyed having a place to go and workout. It has been a good de-stress place for me.
Now, for the bad part. It seems that everyone else had the same thought.
The pool is always crowded. The courts are always crowded. Most parents are dropping their kids off there for the entire day. Which means we can't use the things we want to use. So, now we are moving our membership to another gym in town. It is not nearly as crowded and it cost a fraction of what the other gym cost. ____________________________________________________________
